AI Connector (MCP)
The AI Connector (MCP) lets you use an AI assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude directly on your Pitch N Hire data. You create a personal token in Settings, add a custom connector in your AI app, and the assistant can then read and change your jobs, applications, candidates and more, acting as you with exactly the permissions of your role.
Overview
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standard way for AI apps to connect to other products. The AI Connector exposes a Pitch N Hire MCP server at your API base URL followed by /mcp. You sign in to it with a personal token that you create yourself, and everything the assistant does is done as you, so it can never do more than your role allows.
Key features
- Personal token — created in Settings and shown only once. Optionally set an expiry of 30, 90 or 365 days, and optionally make it read-only.
- Works with ChatGPT and Claude — add a custom connector with the server URL and the token as a Bearer token.
- Broad coverage — the assistant can read and change jobs, applications, candidates, notes, assessments, email templates and candidate emails, analytics, reports, imports and exports.
- Your permissions — the assistant acts as you, with your role’s permissions.
- Confirmation for risky actions — destructive actions (delete, send email, reject, import) ask for your confirmation in the AI app before they run.
- Help pages — the assistant can read these help pages to answer how-to questions.
- Usage limits — each company gets 2,000 tool calls per rolling 5 hours and 25,000 per rolling 7 days by default, with meters in Settings.
Step-by-step
- Sign in as an Owner or Admin on an Enterprise plan and open Settings → AI Connector (MCP).
- Create a personal token. Choose an optional expiry (30, 90 or 365 days) and, if you want the assistant to only look and not change anything, tick the read-only option.
- Copy the token straight away. It is shown only once.
- Copy the server URL shown on the page. It is your API base URL plus
/mcp. - In ChatGPT or Claude, add a custom connector. Paste the server URL and enter the token as a Bearer token.
- Ask the assistant something, for example “List my open jobs” or “Summarize applications for the Backend Engineer job”.
- When the assistant proposes a destructive action such as deleting, sending an email, rejecting or importing, review it and confirm in your AI app.
Tips
Common issues & fixes
- I don’t see AI Connector (MCP) in Settings — it is available only on the Enterprise plan and only to Owner and Admin roles.
- I lost my token — tokens are shown only once. Create a new one and update the connector.
- The assistant says it can’t change something — your token may be read-only, or your role may not have that permission.
- “Limit reached, resets at …” — your company has used its tool-call allowance (2,000 per rolling 5 hours or 25,000 per rolling 7 days by default). Wait until the time shown, or check the meters in Settings.
- Connection fails — check that the server URL ends in
/mcp, that the token is entered as a Bearer token, and that it hasn’t expired.
